I'm still alive for those of you who have been wondering. Just busy. busy. busy! (tis the season :)
I have a question for y'all. Since most of you are more experienced at this running/racing stuff than I am...
How do you pick which races and how many you will do in the upcoming season?
I'm fairly competitive and I love swag, so I'm thinking races will help keep me motivated. Just so we're clear, I know I will not place, (At least not this year!), but there is no way I won't give everything I have!
Any advice/suggestions would be welcomed!!
Saturday night was Mike's family Christmas with his Mom's side of the family. Lots of food and lots of fun. What else would we do when it is 16 degrees out, but go for a hay (sleigh) wagon ride?
Yep. 16. degrees. Brrrr.......Too cold for ya? How about a pinata? Not your style? How about homemade ice cream? Cards? Presents?
I somehow managed to take a picture of everything but the food spread. Incredible! I tasted a little of everything I wanted (and may have had 2 pieces of fudge), but I didn't go crazy. I'm okay with that. AND I ran before we went, so I wouldn't be as tempted :)
This is Mike and I at his Dad's side of the fam party today.
And yeah, he totally rocks the flannel ;)
A little more low key today. Fine by me!
I'm snuggled in now, watching the pack (Packers) and thinking I'll be in bed by 9pm!! Laugh if you must, but dude, I get up at 430am.
Peace...
Trish
So happy to find your blog. I can already tell that I will love it! How do I choose a race? Well, I do have to say that I want to run the Nike Women's Half Marathon just for the Tiffany's necklace at the end! :) I also go for location and reputation. I think my next one will be the Newport Marathon here on the Oregon coast. It is small but I hear great things about it!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for my little gift - it arrived today! :) Absolutely perfect, since I generally stubbornly refuse to purchase anything for myself, including music!
ReplyDeleteI pick races by location and bling. Either it has to be convenient or in a cool enough location that it's worth the hassle of getting there, and I am a sucker for good bling!
Looks like you had an awesome Christmas! :0) I usually chose races that are fairly close to home...usually ones that I can drive to and spend a night in a hotel then come home.
ReplyDeleteLooks like great fam time. Yay! Hope you guys had a great Christmas. From the looks of your next post, YOU did. Score! :)
ReplyDeleteThe first year I was baffled at the whole picking races thing, but over the year learned to read/review multiple resources to find as many possible races as possible. Then, I'd pick by date, location, cost, and distance of the race (the actual race, not TO the race). For example, I'm still trying to get a 15K on my schedule. Hope that helps!
*hugs* from Orlando!
