The Long Awaited Giveaway Post!!!

If I knew how to integrate a drum roll into this post, you'd be hearing it now...

I have a few things to say, but I'll save them for another post. This is purely giveaway people. Thanks for your patience. To reward you, I will now have TWO prizes instead of the one I had originally planned :)

Prize package #1 :

The winner of this package will receive a ONE year subscription to Runner's World and a lovely Sweaty Band! (Thick, Serenity style, pink, blueish, and taupe. )

Prize Package #2:

The winner of prize #2 will receive a ONE year subscription to Country Living magazine and their choice of 4 notecards from my Etsy shop!

Das rules... each thing you do will earn you one entry! Please leave a separate comment for each.

1. Leave a comment on this post. Please let me know if you'd like prize #1 or prize #2. Or either.
2. Link back to my giveaway. I don't tweet or facebook or whatever, but if you say you tweeted (twittered?? huh?) or did a little sky writing, I have no choice but to believe you ;)
3. Followers, those of you who already are, give yourself 2 entries, new followers, sorry only 1 for you!
4. Please, please give me some sage running advice. I am starting week 4 of the Couch to 5K program and I'm a little scared.

It's that simple! The giveaway will run through midnight central time, Saturday, May 8th and I'll announce the winner on Sunday! If I can find you through your comment, I'll email you or comment on a post, otherwise, you'll have to check back!
*I have not been compensated in anyway for any of the items in the giveaway. I bought the sweaty band for myself, but my head is too fat and it hurt even putting it on!
Peace and Good Luck!
Trish

  4. My running advice: be sure you eat properly (carbolicious) the night before a long run. Your body will reward you with a good performance.

  5. I would love either, but I'm kind of leaning towards #1!

  7. my advice is that when you get to the point you want to stop, don't. Run for 30 seconds more. Then 30 after that. It will help to teach your brain that you can go further than you think!

  10. The hardest thing about running is putting on your workout clothes and getting out the door. Do things to make that easier. Set out clothes the night before, post that you will be running xx miles on your blog so you feel like someone is holding you accountable. Even mentally picturing myself running helps sometimes. Like at night as I'm falling asleep, I will picture myself getting up in the morning, getting dressed, putting on my watch, going out the door, etc. It helps!

  11. Linked on Mom vs. Marathon!

PS: Thanks for the comment on my 18 miler and hells-yes about ABBA. They rule. ;)

  12. I would like either pack, I already subscribe to Country LIving but I love those cards!

    ReplyDelete
  13. My advice: Always push just a little harder than you think you can. If you do this each time you will be amazed how quickly you improve...running is just as much mental as it is physical, and that little extra push helps you realize that you are capable of so much more than you think!

  24. (love #1 btw)

My running advice? Well, 2 things: (1) Don't be afraid of walking when you need to. Heck, there's a whole style of running modeled after it (the Galloway Method). (2) Chocolate milk after a run is a kick-butt recovery drink: carbs, sugar, and protein all in a single chocolatey treat!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I follow your blog now, too! I would like package #1

    ReplyDelete
  26. Sage running advice: so excited for you that you are starting to run! Take it slow and listen to your body. A lot of people get injured by doing too much too quickly. Also, find a buddy to run with, it will help you keep running. Most importantly, smile when you run : )

    ReplyDelete
  27. c25k advice: TRUST the plan. :) It has been designed to give you the confidence and endurance you need for each run. Don't keep looking ahead and worrying about the future runs. Just take it one run at a time and you'll be ready.

  28. just found you -- I'm a new follower!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I'm interested in giveaway #1 -- I've been wanting to try one of those sweaty bands! Thanks for the opportunity!

    ReplyDelete
  30. my best advice is to log your runs in your running log BEFORE you workout. This will make you less likely to skip your workout or cutback on miles. Who wants to go back in and eliminate mileage?!?!? GOOD LUCK!

  31. I would love Prize 1. I registered for a marathon training group and thought that I was getting a runners world subscription as part of the package but that was false. So, for a couple of months I have been saying that I was going to guy a year membership as a graduation gift to myself. If I win I won't have to do that anymore. Oh, I really hope I am picked. I also have these crazy fly-aways (little baby hair) that does not stay in my pony tail. They bother me while I run and have been looking online for a good headband for running. Again, really hope I win.

  32. I twittered about it @run4may

  35. My advice to you is to stick to the schedule and always listen to your body, it always knows best.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I would LOVE the Runner's World subscription!

    ReplyDelete
  37. Running tips: make sure to have fun; make a new playlist; make a list of why you want to run and why you enjoy it; find a running buddy (one who's better than you is a good motivation, or at least someone to help pass time) :)

    ReplyDelete
  38. I would love the 1st package. Your cards are really pretty though!

I have tried a bunch of different headbands and none really work. I've heard good reviews of the sweaty bands so I'll go with that one.

  39. I did the Couch to 5K plan. Week 4 was the hardest week for me! My advice is to do the best you can, you CAN do it. If you have a particularly bad day, and everyone does, just keep going in the program. The next day might surprise you even if you didn't finish the day before.

Good luck! The program is awesome! It works too, I just ran 6 miles this weekend!

COMMENTS CLOSED!!! I'll be back later with a new post to share the winners :) Thanks to all who entered!! ONE WORLD-ONE HEART I'm proud to announce my One world-One heart giveaway!! This is my first year and I think it's way cool! A Whimsical Bohemian is the hostess for this amazing event and I "pirated" the follwing paragraph of info about the event from her: "The original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. 2007 had roughly 85-90 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong. We had a strong showing the first year for sure, and then in 2008 we had just about tripled that number. This is more than wanting to win something.......that is only the means..

Happy 4th! and... a Giveaway!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! The pic above is of our local fireworks, which we are lucky enough to be able to see from our house :) We had my family over today for a cookout. Steak and chicken on the grill. Yum!!! I chose the chicken. Weird right. I LOVE steak! However, I had two cupcakes yesterday that my daughter made and decorated red, white and blue for a party, so I felt like I'd indulged enough! I love cooking for people. I think I should have more parties :) I ran yesterday for the first time in a long time. I decided to try out the high school track made out of recycled tires. My hip (long story) was sore, but bearable. I started over with Week 5 of the Couch to 5K training program. Figured it was best not to rush it and injure myself again. I had enough left at the end to run the bleacher stairs for 3 minutes!! (My quads were screaming, but it felt oh so good ;) You can't really tell in the pic, but my face was sooo red! I hate that I get this red. My middle d

Self portraits, misc, and .... a GIVEAWAY!

I love this picture. It is of me. And I love it! I typically hate pictures of myself. My Bondi Band displays perfectly my love hate relationship with running; my shoulders look good; my eyes aren't showing which is super, cause they get all wonky in pictures sometimes! Love it :) Below are further attempts at pre and post run picture taking... note the lovely shade of red of my face post run... See what I mean about the wonky eyes. Weird. And yes, thank you for noticing, I do need to wear two sports bras when I run. I'd like to introduce my new love... a Garmin Forerunner 405cx. Love it! Of course I haven't used it yet. So, I love the idea of it :) Mike knew just what my heart desired for Christmas ( I may have dropped a hint or two ). My present to myself: I have an older generation 30 GB, which rocks, but it is cumbersome to run with. I've been wanting a shuffle for a while cause they are cute the perfect size to run with ;) Which brings me to the GIVEAWAY! I am in n
