From My Couch, Happy Independence Day and a Birthday Wish

I am writing this post from my couch.  Not a bad thing, nor an usual thing, to be honest!  However, I have been on this couch for about a month!! :(  I "injured" my back four weeks ago and my Physical Therapist has given me quite a few restrictions.  One of which is bending over. Seriously.  Do you have any idea how many times you bend forward in a day?? Even unloading/loading the dishwasher is a "no-no".  I have to think about every move I make from putting on my shoes to standing up from a seated position.  When I sit, no slouching and I have to use a lumbar roll. No running, no lifting, no swimming, no twisting, no bending, no... you get the picture.  The verdict is that I have a "slipped disc" along with already existing hypertrophy (arthritic changes basically) in my lumbar/sacral vertebrae.  Grrr!  It's slowly getting better, but not quick enough (of course)!  I am dying to work out!! (I had to put that...
I'm not sure where I found this, but thank you whoever you are! My two younger daughters have birthdays this weekend. They are two years minus a day apart.  Blech!  I feel for them, but hey, God's will. Anyway, they are turning 13 and 15 and NEITHER OF THEM WANTED A CAKE. No cake. For a birthday. No birthday cake.  Huh. I did not make a cake.  I did try convincing them (because, well, it's cake), but nope.  I didn't see the point in making cakes if they would only eat a tiny piece to make me feel good and then I'd have all of that cake staring at me. For days..... For those of you who aren't crafty or live under a rock if you are in the sewing world, Quilt Market is in Portland this weekend.  I am soooo jealous.  It is a trade show, only open to those who own shops, pattern makers, fabric makers, etc.   Someday, I intend to go to quilt market .  If you'd like to see some fabric/quilt eye candy, google spring 2013 quilt market.  ...

It was my Birthday. I didn't cry :)

My birthday was on Monday. I'm 39. years. old. And I'm actually ok with that! I really thought 39 would be tough. I've had a rough couple of weeks, so I was prepared to be sad or angry or something. I wasn't! I had a very nice day. I had the day off of work. I had to get my drivers license renewed, so I tackled that first thing. Then I came home and read a book - cover to cover. I went outside where the sun was actually out (it's been raining a lot here) and did a little yard work. Monday was probably the nicest day since the day in the post below!! Score! I've been struggling with running again. My allergies have been horrible, because even though the temps haven't been very spring like, the trees, grass, etc are blooming. And lucky me, in addition to itchy eyes, my asthma acts up! I keep trying though. All you can do. I've also been struggling (again) with wishing for more, rather than loving what I have. I am very blessed and I know this. Sometimes, I...

99.5

I was supposed to post my birthday giveaway Sunday. However, I was under the weather Sunday and Monday, thus no post. I'm better today, but overwhelmed with catching up on the last couple of days. I will post my giveaway in the next day or so. Thanks for your patience and I'll try to make it worth your while. This post is title 99.5, cause my birthday giveaway was supposed to correspond with my 100th post ;) Soon peeps! Trish

I love Grandma!

My Grandma turned 80 last weekend!! She is amazing. I love her with all my heart. We had a party for her and the day was perfect!! There was a threat of rain, but Saturday dawned clear as a bell, not a cloud in the sky!! Aren't we lucky to have such a gorgeous grandma! (a bunch of my cousins are missing). All of her great granchildren, minus one who couldn't be at her party. Happy Birthday to my Grandma, my mom, Katie, and Kenzie!!! All in May :)
