Finally! The Giveaway Post!!

*Edited to add, Comments are now closed. I will post the winner soon and send them an email!! Thanks to everyone who entered and for all of your great comments. In the next week or so, I hope to visit each of your blogs!!

I know you've all been waiting with baited breath and trust me, I appreciate it. I'm running a little late with this, due to softball running late, lemon bars that HAD to be made and well, life ;)

So, here it is... To celebrate my first (and only so far) sale from my new Etsy shop, Sewin, I am having a giveaway!!

"What do I win?" you say. Well, in a sense, that is up to you! I have these two lovely fabrics.

Tile Mosaic in turqoise, by Laura Gunn,

her Lantern Bloom collection for Michael Miller

Charima Paisley Tomato, by Chez Moi for Moda

You, well, the winner, will get to choose from one of these fabrics and then choose either a skirt for a little girl (up to a size 10/12), a head scarf, or a skirt and a headscarf sized for an 18" doll.

Cool huh!! And to make it fun, I'll actually make a headscarf out of both for the winner if they choose this option. The catch, I'd like a picture of you or yours wearing one of the scarves for my Etsy shop.

How do I win? Easy, see I have this fabric (table cloth, actually)
from April Cornell. I found it a thrift store and I love it! I'm thinking pillows, napkins, dish towels, craft fair apron OR table cloth. I simply can't decide. That's where you come in. For one entry, give me your thoughts on what I should do with this yumminess!

For a bonus entry, tell me what the pattern is called and how old it is.

I will also give bonus entries for: linking from your blog to this giveaway, becoming a follower, or paying a visit to one of my Etsy shops, Ketelcopia or Sewin and leaving a comment telling me one way I can improve my shop(s).

I will leave comments open for one week. Comments will be closed on Monday, July 27 at 10 pm central time. I will post the winner sometime Tuesday the 28th. The winner will have 48 hours to respond to my email or I will pick a new winner.

Have fun and good luck!

Trish

  13. I so love finding lovliness like that! My closest goodwill is 230 miles away...yes I'm in the boonies! With that lovely red color, I would make napkins to use for either Christmas or Valentine's Day. Imagine it on White China on a red tablecloth...just so 'rich' looking!

  14. I would use models too. If you don't like having your children on the internet, you can take the pictures from the waist down for the skirt (so people can envision the flare and length on their kid); and turn the face slightly away for the headscarf shot...I would like to know what they look like on too. Do you have these in half widths? More a headband (with tails would be nice), than a head scarf? that's my two cents.

  15. You could make placemats! If that doesn't interest you, I like the apron idea.

Thanks for the giveaway. I'd love to win a skirt for my daughter in the Charima Paisley Tomato! How sweet... mybabyappleseed(at)yahoo(Dot)ca

  18. On the Sewin shop I'd use models as suggested previously. I do like the clothes hanging on the line -- I think it's artistic, but I'd also have model pics too so you could see better what they'd look like on. The Prince skirt pic turned out well, but I would suggest having her knees (or full legs) in the picture to get the full effect.

Post the clothes for the 18" dolls you mentioned here. You could list doll clothes on their own and then also have some sets where you could buy a matching girl/doll combo with a skirt and head scarf for each of them!!! My 5 year old daughter (and her doll) would be thrilled with that!!!

Would you be able to have a separate shipping price to Canada? I know that it isn't normally as expensive as everywhere else and would make Canadian shoppers more likely to purchase from you.

Congrats on your first sale so far! All the best... mybabyappleseed(at)yahoo(dot)ca

  23. This cloth is very gorgeous...you should make pillow cases with coral colored lace trimmings or ruffles....it would be absolutely girlie and adorable!

  24. On your sewin shop, as eevryone here has already suggested, you should use models to properly display how the skirts or scarves would hang on an actual person....as for your rings and other accessories, i think you should use simpler background. the items are colorful enough....so a plain background would shift the emphasis on your gorgeous items. And also, please make sure the photographs are very clear.

  25. The fabric is very vintage-y... I love the look of hand drawn illustrations of nature on it. An apron would always be nice, and fit for the theme, also a placemat, egg warmer, kitchen mitt, tea towel, would be great too. If you have a large quanity why not making a set of those things?

  26. I would use that fabric for...a lampshade! Think how it would rosy up a room, light coming through that lovely pattern.

Wonderful giveaway! Who wouldn't take the scarf-and-photo option? Headscarves and fame!;D

COMMENTS CLOSED!!! I'll be back later with a new post to share the winners :) Thanks to all who entered!! ONE WORLD-ONE HEART I'm proud to announce my One world-One heart giveaway!! This is my first year and I think it's way cool! A Whimsical Bohemian is the hostess for this amazing event and I "pirated" the follwing paragraph of info about the event from her: "The original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. 2007 had roughly 85-90 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong. We had a strong showing the first year for sure, and then in 2008 we had just about tripled that number. This is more than wanting to win something.......that is only the means..

Happy 4th! and... a Giveaway!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! The pic above is of our local fireworks, which we are lucky enough to be able to see from our house :) We had my family over today for a cookout. Steak and chicken on the grill. Yum!!! I chose the chicken. Weird right. I LOVE steak! However, I had two cupcakes yesterday that my daughter made and decorated red, white and blue for a party, so I felt like I'd indulged enough! I love cooking for people. I think I should have more parties :) I ran yesterday for the first time in a long time. I decided to try out the high school track made out of recycled tires. My hip (long story) was sore, but bearable. I started over with Week 5 of the Couch to 5K training program. Figured it was best not to rush it and injure myself again. I had enough left at the end to run the bleacher stairs for 3 minutes!! (My quads were screaming, but it felt oh so good ;) You can't really tell in the pic, but my face was sooo red! I hate that I get this red. My middle d

Self portraits, misc, and .... a GIVEAWAY!

I love this picture. It is of me. And I love it! I typically hate pictures of myself. My Bondi Band displays perfectly my love hate relationship with running; my shoulders look good; my eyes aren't showing which is super, cause they get all wonky in pictures sometimes! Love it :) Below are further attempts at pre and post run picture taking... note the lovely shade of red of my face post run... See what I mean about the wonky eyes. Weird. And yes, thank you for noticing, I do need to wear two sports bras when I run. I'd like to introduce my new love... a Garmin Forerunner 405cx. Love it! Of course I haven't used it yet. So, I love the idea of it :) Mike knew just what my heart desired for Christmas ( I may have dropped a hint or two ). My present to myself: I have an older generation 30 GB, which rocks, but it is cumbersome to run with. I've been wanting a shuffle for a while cause they are cute the perfect size to run with ;) Which brings me to the GIVEAWAY! I am in n
