"The Number on the Scale Does Not Define You"

I have decided to participate in No Weigh in April.  I'm going to try really hard not to weigh myself.  Currently, I weigh myself everyday come hell or high water.  That number can definitely have an impact on my day.  I know that I am not defined by my weight, but when you work out hard and eat clean and do not see those numbers getting smaller, it can be defeating.

Way back in January, I read this post on my hero's website.  Swim Bike Mom, aka Meredith, had me in tears.  Literally.  I've been a slave to the scale my entire life, and it hasn't made much of a difference in my weight, but it has "weighed me down".  I asked Swim Bike Mom then if I could repost her post on my blog and awesome human being that she is, she said "Yes!".  Instead of reposting and getting on with my workouts, etc, I promptly hit rock bottom and began sitting on the couch eating whatever I felt like and not exercising one bit.  So, needless to say, the post never happened.  I've been back at it for six weeks now and I feel like I am finally ready to ditch the scale.  (And yes, I am hyperventilating as I type this).

So here it is:  I WILL NOT WEIGH MYSELF FOR THE ENTIRE MONTH OF APRIL!!! (but you better believe that I'll be standing on that bad boy May 1 ;)

Can I do it?  I think so.  I've stopped drinking Diet Dew after all!  So join me/us if you wish.  Click the link above or on my sidebar.  Empower yourself.  You control your life.  You choose your direction.  And only you determine your self worth!

  1. Ooohhh! I'm not sure I can take THIS challenge. An entire month OFF the scale? I did that for months when I was afraid to look. Now, I weigh in once a week (okay, sometimes twice or three times)... good for you being back at it for six weeks. Looks like you and I are on that 'return journey' together. :) Glad you swung by the Turtles blog... was great to see you in my in-box!

  2. That would be really hard for me. Especially since I am trying to lose weight. Maybe I'll wait to see how hard it is for you before I try it ;)

PS - I tagged you in my post today (http://ihaverun.blogspot.com/2012/04/tuesday-randomness-about-me.html)

  3. You can do it! Get your scale out of your sight, put it on a shelf in the closet or something. Out of sight, out of mind....or at least harder to do. You won't regret it....or regret eliminating the Diet Dew.

COMMENTS CLOSED!!! I'll be back later with a new post to share the winners :) Thanks to all who entered!! ONE WORLD-ONE HEART I'm proud to announce my One world-One heart giveaway!! This is my first year and I think it's way cool! A Whimsical Bohemian is the hostess for this amazing event and I "pirated" the follwing paragraph of info about the event from her: "The original idea behind this giveaway event was to bring bloggers together from around the world who may never ordinarily meet. It closes the gap of the blog community and enables us to interact, discover new and wonderful people, and in the process possibly win a prize or many prizes along the way. 2007 had roughly 85-90 participants and many connections were made because of it......friendships that are still going strong. We had a strong showing the first year for sure, and then in 2008 we had just about tripled that number. This is more than wanting to win something.......that is only the means..

Happy 4th! and... a Giveaway!

I hope everyone had a great holiday! The pic above is of our local fireworks, which we are lucky enough to be able to see from our house :) We had my family over today for a cookout. Steak and chicken on the grill. Yum!!! I chose the chicken. Weird right. I LOVE steak! However, I had two cupcakes yesterday that my daughter made and decorated red, white and blue for a party, so I felt like I'd indulged enough! I love cooking for people. I think I should have more parties :) I ran yesterday for the first time in a long time. I decided to try out the high school track made out of recycled tires. My hip (long story) was sore, but bearable. I started over with Week 5 of the Couch to 5K training program. Figured it was best not to rush it and injure myself again. I had enough left at the end to run the bleacher stairs for 3 minutes!! (My quads were screaming, but it felt oh so good ;) You can't really tell in the pic, but my face was sooo red! I hate that I get this red. My middle d

Self portraits, misc, and .... a GIVEAWAY!

I love this picture. It is of me. And I love it! I typically hate pictures of myself. My Bondi Band displays perfectly my love hate relationship with running; my shoulders look good; my eyes aren't showing which is super, cause they get all wonky in pictures sometimes! Love it :) Below are further attempts at pre and post run picture taking... note the lovely shade of red of my face post run... See what I mean about the wonky eyes. Weird. And yes, thank you for noticing, I do need to wear two sports bras when I run. I'd like to introduce my new love... a Garmin Forerunner 405cx. Love it! Of course I haven't used it yet. So, I love the idea of it :) Mike knew just what my heart desired for Christmas ( I may have dropped a hint or two ). My present to myself: I have an older generation 30 GB, which rocks, but it is cumbersome to run with. I've been wanting a shuffle for a while cause they are cute the perfect size to run with ;) Which brings me to the GIVEAWAY! I am in n
